Collaboration is Key

Collaboration has been essential in my creative career. It is something I love to do and admittedly it is not always easy. Part of that is knowing your own strengths and weaknesses and finding people who trust and appreciate what you bring to the table.

I have quite a few design projects under my belt but honestly there is always something new to learn. I am not afraid to hire the best people to get the job done right. I am no HVAC specialist, so I hire teams that I know and trust who will help me place those new systems so they are functional and visually appealing. I know my way around the paint store, but I trust that my crew knows best how to strip those wood beams and make them look like new. Sometimes we agree and other times…we negotiate. At the end of the day it’s all about bringing a project to life for the homeowner.

Whether you decide to go it alone and DIY your home reno or hire people to do bits and pieces- know your strengths and weaknesses. We all have limitations and there is no fault in admitting that. Everyone has special gifts and talents. We don’t need to go things alone- remember…we all need each other!
